This morning we hit the road by 7am. Stopped at Java Express for coffee and
donuts. The coffee was still too hot to
drink half an hour later – it tasted good.
Donuts were fresh! Drove to
Sawgrass Mills (outlets) in Fort Lauderdale – took a good four hours. Had a good trip on the interstate but the
drivers in Ft L are extremely crazy and Jim dislikes driving there!
Found the outlet store we were looking for then
popped in to Cheesecake Factory for lunch.
Great food as always. En route to
Florida City, we stopped at the Everglades National Park and viewed the
exhibits and information about the area.
I didn’t realize there were black panthers native to the park and on the
endangered list. Efforts being made to
save the species. There are several
different places to stop, walking tracks and organized tours with park rangers
can be taken.
The district is largely farming and we could see
the workers picking vegetables and fruit from trees. In the middle of it all we found the Miami
Brewing Co & Winery - so stopped in
for a sample. A tad on the expensive
side!
The trip to the Fairway Inn didn’t take long – it
was a great place to stay because of the restaurants and shops within walking
distance. We had dinner at Denny’s and our room key gave us a 20% discount on
our dinner. The servo next door sold
cold beer so all was good! David and I
went looking for an AT&T store to buy more data for our wireless, so Jim
dropped us at the Florida City outlet around the corner – but there was no
store so we walked back to the hotel.
Great brekky bar in the morning, too!
