Off to my favourite place for brekky –
IHOP! Love that it is walking distance
from the Casey house. Went for a drive
to the Daytona International Speedway where Lesley knew there was a tourist
information centre. We could hear the
cars doing test laps – very loud! It has
changed since we last visited, new bigger stands and more infrastructure. We didn’t do the tour, but we could have. Next, we went to the Flea Market – which is
held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It was worth a look around, we bought a couple of things.
Jim and Lesley took us to Tijuana Flats for
lunch – a trendy Mexican café, complete with cold beer! Enormous servings and a hot sauce bar beyond
belief (not that I’m in to hot sauce!).
The young man serving at the counter loved our accent and told us he
wanted to go visit Australia. He was
collecting the plates and stopped for a chat at our table and spoke some more
to us – I gave him a $1 gold Aussie coin to start his savings account….
Jim took us to the Daytona Beach brewing
company – a craft beer pub. The beers
were a little too ‘hoppy’ for me, but everyone else liked them. Lesley had a ‘growler’ in the car – a pint
bottle used to buy craft beer to take away.
Pretty well priced! Jimmy and some
of his friends turned up and we had quite the group gathering – pity I was so
drowsy from jetlag that I nearly fell off my bar stool a couple of times!
Walked down to the Daytona Amphitheatre on
Saturday night – there was a free tribute band concert – Led Zeppelin – the
place was packed! We didn’t realize
there were fireworks at 9.45 or we would have stayed longer….
Examples of growlers
