Wednesday 23 September
The weather wasn’t great – raining and
overcast! The boys went off on the bikes
looking for parts to fix Jim’s motorbike.
Lesley and I caught up on jobs around here. We walked around the corner to the Earl St
Grille for a quick bite. Had to wait a
few hours more for the car to be ready.
Had the laundry packed and ready to go!
Drove down to the Laundromat, and right next door was a ‘Festhaus’ – a
bar owned by a pro surfer. The boys
settled in there whilst Lesley and I got up close & personal with some
washers and dryers!
I enjoyed a Canadian beer - Labatts Blue.
From Wikipedia:
Labatt Brewing Company Ltd. is a Canadian beer
company founded by John Kinder
Labatt in 1847
in London,
Ontario. In 1995, it was purchased by Belgian brewer Interbrew; it is now part
of Anheuser-Busch
InBev. Laba
In the United States, Labatt
brand beers are sold under license by Labatt USA.
Labatt
Blue is a 5% abv pale lager. There are
11.53 US fluid ounces (341 ml) of beer in a bottle of Labatt Blue. Since Labatt
Blue became Canada’s best–selling beer, the company’s flagship brand has
entered in a number of international beer ratings competitions
and has always performed notably well. In 2003, Labatt Blue received a Gold Quality Award at the World Quality
Selections, organized yearly by Monde Selection.
A
couple of guys came in and sat beside us.
Turns out they were ex-military and had been overseas and had worked
alongside Aussie soldiers. (Quite
complimentary about the Australian medic who’d saved their buddy who’d been
shot in the neck.) They were friendly
and we talked about surfing and of course, they’d like to visit Australia one
day and go surfing, so we talked beaches and sharks! And Mick Fanning and THAT shark attack!
Next,
time for dinner so Jim drove us to Steve’s Diner. Hadn’t been there before, but discovered they
serve the best home made bread with butter and delicious soup! Completely full, we left for home quite
satisfied!
